About me

Hi, I’m Shish.

I lead finance data science and AI transformation inside regulated financial institutions. My work is about translating complex business problems into scalable data products, AI systems, and analytical infrastructure.

For the past ten years at Charles Schwab, I’ve led AI, data science, analytics, and automation across Finance and Treasury, partnering with senior stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Risk, Technology, and Operations to design capabilities that improve reporting quality, scenario analysis, governance, and enterprise execution. The work spans a ~$400B balance sheet and includes the agentic AI systems, data platforms, and model governance infrastructure the organization runs on.

My focus is the part of enterprise finance that is changing fastest: AI-enabled decisioning, balance sheet modernization, operating model redesign, and the governance infrastructure that regulated institutions need to do all of it responsibly.

Before Schwab, I was Vice President of Treasury and Risk Analytics at Northern Trust, owning the statistical models for balance sheet forecasting and liquidity stress testing. I also served on the advisory board for SkyGeni, an early-stage fintech, advising on data science strategy and product direction. Earlier at KPMG, I built predictive analytics models for Fortune 500 financial services and corporate clients.

My background combines financial markets fluency, technical depth, and enterprise execution. I hold an MS in Applied Economics from the University of Illinois, completed PhD coursework, published peer-reviewed research in econometrics and economics, and completed executive programs through Harvard and Yale.

This site is where I write about what is changing in financial services: AI-native finance, tokenized infrastructure, treasury modernization, governance, and the evolving competition between banks, fintechs, and technology-led financial institutions.

My focus is practical: how financial institutions redesign themselves for a world where intelligence, liquidity, risk, and client expectations move in real time.
